RMS QUEEN ELIZABETH 2

The QE2 is a very special and much loved
ship. She has captured the imagination of everyone from young to old
and is one of the few ships to be known by her initials QE2. On the
21st September 2007 as part of her 40th Anniversary cruise round the UK
she visited Liverpool. Huge crowds of over 500,000 turned out to see
her all day despite the torrential rain in the morning. That day HRH
The Duke of Kent officially opened the new City of Liverpool Cruise
Terminal and the QE2 was berthed at the new landing stage for its
visit. A special Celebration Concert was held in the afternoon at the
Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and in the evening a magnificent fireworks
display was held before the QE2 sailed out of the Mersey at 03:00 am. This is a collection of pictures taken by the author (Alex Naughton) recording some of the events on this special day when the QE2 visited Liverpool for the 40th Anniversary of her launch on the River Clyde back in 1967. QE2
